Preschool Registration 

The Newton Community Preschool has classrooms located at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School & Newton YMCA.  We currently offer programming for 4-year-old students in morning or afternoon sessions.  Our staff takes pride in working hard to meet the needs of our preschool families!  

If your child will be 4 years old on or before September 15, 2024 please complete and return a Preschool application (with required documents) to the Central Registrar's Office located at the EJH Beard Administration Center (1302 1st Avenue West, Newton).

2024 - 2025 School Year

4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM - 2024/25 Preschool Application - APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE!

  • Students must be 4 years old on or before September 15, 2024
  • There is no monthly tuition fee for the 4 year old program (it is funded by the State of Iowa)
  • Preference for AM or PM classes will be given on a first come, first served basis
  • Families will be notified of a decision via email within 2 weeks.  Information for completing online registration (Infinite Campus) will be provided upon acceptance.
  • Completed applications will be reviewed individually, based on program capacity.  Families will be notified of a decision via email.

  • Thomas Jefferson Elementary School (112 Thomas Jefferson Drive)
  • Newton YMCA (1701 South 8th Avenue East)
  • District Website (www.newtoncsd.org)

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The following five documents must be submitted in order for an application to be considered complete.

  • 2024-2025 preschool application  
  • proof of residency (driver's license or utility bill with current address)
  • a current immunization record
  • a copy of your child's birth certificate
  • documentation of health insurance for your child (health insurance card with child's name)

Please submit your application materials to the Central Registrar's Office (located at the EJH Beard Administration Center - 1302 1st Avenue West, Newton) or scan and email the documents to Melinda Robertson, Central Registrar (robertsonm@newtoncsd.org).  Applications will NOT be accepted at any of the elementary schools in the district.
