Cardinals,
May is almost here and so is the end of the school year. June 4, 2021 will bring the 2020- 2021 school year to an end for our students, and we have already begun the process of looking forward to the next year.
We have proposed calendars which have been presented to the School Board for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years, and will be on the agenda at the May 17, 2021 meeting for a 6:45 PM public hearing and approval. You can check out a draft of the proposed calendars through the link in the April 26, 2021 board highlights and provide feedback to the District.
The Newton Community School District also wants to congratulate two of our elementary schools who have received national recognition. Aurora Heights and Emerson Hough have received word they have been designated as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools for the 2020-2021 school year. There were only 362 schools in the United States and only 7 schools in Iowa receiving the honor this year. The efforts of both buildings to build strong relationships with the students has led them to this recognition and we are very proud of the staff. Congratulations!
As we approach the end of the year, be sure to get out and enjoy some of our many student activities. Check the school calendar and help support our kids by being present. Join the Cardinal family in witnessing the many talents of our students and encouraging them to continue to challenge themselves in the future. Make sure all of our students see that Red Pride Lives Here!
Yours Truly,
Tom Messinger
Newton Community School District Superintendent
