Cardinals,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for all the support given to our school district in extraordinary times. Our teachers and staff members have put in such great effort to help our students transition back to school and learn in different ways we never before experienced. The support has helped us more than people will ever realize.
Our teachers are, on a daily basis, preparing lessons to be delivered virtually. They are working on engaging students who appear only as a small picture on the computer screen. Teachers are helping students use technology and learn new skills. They have proven teachers are rare individuals who are capable of managing incredibly difficult tasks repeatedly on short notice. They take their work home at night and work to do it all over again day after day.
This holiday, I am not only thankful for the efforts of our entire Cardinal Community, but I am proud to be a part of a staff filled with so many great educators (teachers, administrators, and support staff). I hope everyone is able to enjoy a safe and healthy Thanksgiving.
Yours truly,
Tom Messinger, Superintendent
Newton Community School District
The Newton Senior High Pacesetters may not have ended their season as expected, but they didn't miss a beat when it came to setting the pace for Red Pride this year! Check out how they participated in the State Competition and kept their spirits high while competing virtually!
It has been a year of challenges, but here is a chance to check out what our District is grateful for from our schools to our students homes! Check out how our community came together to tell us what means the most to them this year.
Winter Activities & Athletics Guidelines shared by our Activities & Athletics Director, Ryan Rump.
Our priority this year is that our students are having safe and happy Thanksgivings, but let's have a look back at one of our favorite traditions here in the District during a normal year when this team comes together to provide lunch for 1,000 of our students in the district for our Thanksgiving Feast!
Cardinal Families: The Newton Community Educational Foundation (NCEF) is looking for great stories of learning and life changing moments from those who have been inspired by one of our teachers! If you are a parent, alumni, community member or student, you are eligible to nominate a teacher.
Nomination forms are due: Tuesday, December 1, 2020
