Cardinals,
The 2021 – 2022 school year has come to a close, and I want to thank our families, community members, students and staff for a successful school year! What a year. We did it! I am proud to say that we kept focused on our mission to “empower every learner to achieve a lifetime of personal success.”
Our Cardinal students and staff now join the Class of 2022 in taking flight and beginning a well-deserved summer break. In a few weeks we will be welcoming our alumni to Newton for Reunion Weekend June 10 - 11, 2022 and celebrating Red Pride!
Some of the successes we celebrated this school year include:
• We opened our doors back up to “pre-pandemic” procedures
• We implemented new technology in many of our classrooms
• We survived a tornado
• We fed all of our students for free
• We were once again able to go on field trips!
As we transition to the new school year, I encourage you to please get your student(s) re-enrolled. If you know of any new students to the area, encourage them to get registered this summer. The information on registration and re-enrollment can be found on our school website.
Looking ahead, the first day of school for the 2022 - 2023 school year is August 23, 2022. Check out the announcements on our website (www.newtoncsd.org), to view the school calendar and learn more about our summer food service offerings!
Thanks, Cardinals for a great year!! We hope this has been one of the best years of your students’ educational experience. We appreciate your continued support and collaboration as we prepare for the next school year, and build for the future. In the meantime, spend time with friends and family, relax, and enjoy the start of summer break. Go Cards!
Yours truly,
Tom Messinger, Superintendent
Newton Community School District

Our Mission: The Newton Community Educational Foundation exists to fund innovative educational programs in our schools. We believe these extra programs inspire, motivate and challenge our children to excellence in the classroom and beyond. It is our purpose to provide these enriched learning experiences for every child in the Newton Community Schools.
NCEF Scholarship Awards – Class of 2022 Because of the generosity of many donors, the Newton Community Educational Foundation is able to annually award scholarships to several deserving Newton High School graduating seniors. This year, NCEF Scholarship Awards for the Class of 2022 totaled $11,000!
This is just a part of the $2.6 Million in scholarships earned by the Class of 2022!
