Hello Cardinals!
Happy Holidays! It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the year and are anxiously anticipating the upcoming winter holidays. While we are looking forward to all of the joy this next season brings, I don’t want to overlook some of my favorite moments from November.
The Veterans Day Reverse Parade It was great seeing our students and staff honor our Veterans during our annual Veterans Day Reverse Parade. A big thank you to our Newton Police Department for leading our Veterans around town, past all of our elementary buildings. Thank you for your service! Also, thank you to the counselors for organizing such a great experience for all.
Think Different Day One of our new favorite traditions at Woodrow Wilson Elementary is something called Think Different Day, a non-academic day that is held twice a year, where students participate in a variety of hands-on activities. This was held on Wednesday, November 22nd. It was a day that we got to unwind, relax, and have some FUN together as a school. Our next Think Different Day will be held in March of 2024.
Student Focused Recognitions Students in grades 2nd - 4th got the opportunity to recognize each other based on our district's core values of honesty, caring, positivity, fun, and support by filling out a Student Focused Recognition card for another peer. Positive affirmations like these can build confidence, overcome negative thoughts and doubts, and encourage students to believe in themselves. It was amazing to see the thoughtfulness behind the kind words and actions of our Woodrow students and we are looking forward to this continuing each month.
As you can see, we have a lot of great things happening in our district, schools, and our classrooms. It has been a pleasure watching the students grow, learn, and mature. The Newton Community School District, along with Woodrow Wilson, will be filled with all sorts of holiday spirit during the month of December. From holiday get-togethers, staff and student dress up days, to our own annual Caroling contest, you’re going to feel the joy and see the FUN throughout our building and the whole district.
Please take the time this holiday season to rest and enjoy family moments and friendships. Peace, Love, and a Happy New Year to all.
Todd Schuster and all of Woodrow Wilson
Through the mentor program, high school students become role models, both academically and socially. Elementary students gain confidence, develop social skills, and discover the joy of learning.
Our school food service program is committed to providing nutritious and delicious meals that help students focus and learn.
