A Message From Bob

The holidays are quickly approaching, but I felt we needed to take some time to recognize the immense generosity of our district.

As we reflect on our gratefulness as individuals, let's broaden our view to realize the benevolence of the Newton Community Schools. During these past few months, there have been countless acts of kindness. Our teachers have collaborated with a local business to donate funds for winter coats and clothing; we have organized food pantries or back-pack buddies in our schools; and we go above and beyond to ensure the emotional and social needs of our students are being met everyday. We have a compassionate group of employees; this month, that is highlighted by our nutrition team. These highly deserving individuals need to be recognized for going above and beyond the food they provide everyday to be recognized for their preparation of a Thanksgiving meal. Check the video out attached to The Bridge page. It is amazing to be part of such a good-hearted community!

Let’s remain giving and maintain that spirit through the season and the remainder of the year.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Bob Callaghan
Superintendent

Thanksgiving Meal and the Ladies Serving Up Lunch Everyday

Our food service begins similar preparations at two separate kitchens daily to serve our students with warm, nutritious meals during breakfast and lunch. Starting at 6:30 a.m., these women will prepare over 2,000 meals each day (over 500,000 each year) for the students and staff of the Newton Community School District. In addition, they "go above and beyond" to "throw" in a second chance breakfast at the high school and nutritious snacks at the elementary school so our children's needs are met. Please let them know how much they are appreciated.

Coat Drive

There was a need, and Paula Lureman at Thomas Jefferson helped fulfill this need for winter coats, hats, and gloves for students of the Newton Community School District. Check out her amazing generosity and the impact it made on Newton Community Schools.
